Meet Michael

Michael Lawson is a strategic consultant and advisor based in Massachusetts, working with small and mid-sized organizations that value clarity, sound judgment, and sustainable progress. With over two decades of experience across business operations, analysis, and leadership-facing roles, Michael helps leaders navigate complexity, make informed decisions, and build structures that actually hold up over time.

He founded Lawson Advisory & Business Solutions, LLC to serve organizations across Greater Boston, the South Shore, and the Berkshires that need more than generic frameworks or performative “best practices.” His work is rooted in understanding how a business really functions: its people, systems, constraints, and goals - translating that understanding into practical, durable solutions.

Michael’s approach blends analytical rigor with systems-level thinking. He works best at the intersection of strategy, operations, and technology, helping leaders clarify priorities, design operating models, and make sense of the tradeoffs inherent in growth and change. His advisory work spans strategic planning, operational design, decision support, sustainability initiatives, and select real estate and asset considerations, always tailored to the organization’s actual capacity and context.

Clients often describe Michael as calm, thoughtful, and direct. He is less interested in pushing predefined methodologies and more focused on helping leaders see clearly, choose intentionally, and move forward without unnecessary complexity.

Outside of his advisory work, Michael finds enjoys reading, exploring New England, and spending time with his goldendoodle, Wilson. He is deeply committed to sustainability in both principle and practice, having decarbonized his own home and business, and he supports clients who wish to pursue similar paths in ways that are proportionate and realistic. When additional expertise is needed, Michael draws on a trusted network of collaborators across accounting, cybersecurity, financial planning, and marketing.
